The K1 flash animation (rotating globe) causes performance problems.
Symptom
In a Windows Terminal Server environment, when a page displaying the K1 rotating globe (a Macromedia Flash image) is displayed the network card utilization increases due to the screen updates required. On some machines the CPU utilization can also increase due to the graphic processing required.
Solution
To avoid constant screen updates and graphic processing non-animated versions of the K1 globe need to be installed.
To install the non-animated version please complete the following:
- Download the updated Flash files using
the following link:
Globe_still.zip
- Extract the downloaded file to the k1\ui\flash
directory replacing the existing files, by default this is:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\k1\ui\flash

Re-start your Internet Explorer browser and the globe icon will no longer be animated.
