GEM is an add-on module for Knowledgeone for those organizations that want to implement the server-centric, rules-driven and fully automatic email management paradigm.

GEM allows you to capture, analyze, store and index all emails (internal and external) sent or received by your organization according to a set of rules defined by yourself.

There is nothing to install on each user’s desktop and there is nothing for each user to do. The powerful and flexible rules processor makes generating and maintaining rules fast and easy (even for organizations with thousands of employees and/or customers). GEM for Knowledgeone includes a new single rule engine for generating and maintaining rules for thousands of employees or customers and it also includes a new single rule Classification rule for those organizations that wish to store and manage emails according to an established classification system.

It is an easy and inexpensive way to implement an enterprise-wide EDMS where your business rules are applied one-hundred percent consistently across the enterprise.

Note 1 – You must already have Knowledgeone 1.5 or above to use this product.

Note 2 – One copy of GEM manages multiple email servers.

Note 3 – GEM is priced per the number of mailboxes to be managed.

Note 4 – GEM works with Exchange 2000 and 2003, GroupWise 6.5 and above and Lotus Domino 6.5 and above.

System Requirements

Application Server OS: Windows 2000 server or Windows 2003 server.
Database Server OS: Windows 2000 server or Windows 2003 server with SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 or Oracle 10g, version 2.0. Any Unix/Linux system with Oracle 10g, version 2.0.
Web Server: Microsoft IIS. Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 and above.
Internet Browser: Internet Explorer v6
Desktop OS: Windows 2000 Professional, XP Professional and above.
Server: Intel Pentium Processor, P4 and later, min 1GB of RAM, min 30GB Disk, Hi-speed network card.
Desktop: Intel Pentium Processor, P4 and later, min 256MB of RAM.

Additional Components for GroupWise

In addition to the above, customers utilizing GroupWise as their email server will require the following:

  • Novell Netware Client
  • GroupWise Client

Additional Components for Lotus Domino

In addition to the above, customers utilizing Lotus Domino as their email server will require the following:

  • Lotus Notes Client 6.5.1 (Note: Lotus Domino 6.5 will not work)

Additional Components for Exchange 2000/2003

In addition to the above, customers utilizing Exchange as their email server will require the following:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 or higher

Automatic Software Upgrade (ASU)

Knowledgeone Corporation's Automatic Software Upgrade (ASU) service ensures that the customer is shipped at least two product updates per annum. These updates will contain new functionality, fixes and updates to ensure compatibility with the latest releases of Microsoft, Novell and Lotus Notes products.
