The RecFind High Speed Scanning Module (HSSM)
was designed to provide the easiest and fastest way to batch
scan large numbers of documents and 'automatically' index and
store them in the
RecFind-Corporate relational database. The HSSM
enables you to search through the
free text of all images from within RecFind-Corporate or
RecQuery-TC.
The HSSM is made up of two modules:
- DocScan is the product that drives the scanner, reads
the barcode on the first page of the documents and then organizes the scanned
pages into multi-page TIFF files for processing by RecScan. DocScan v3.0 for
Knowledgeone is a .NET application with significantly improved functionality and
performance. DocScan 3.0 is able to scan color and
to merge and split scanned images, OCR and PDF all of your documents.
- RecScan (Automatically appends both TIF and TXT files to RecFind). RecScan can also automatically append ANY electronic object format to RecFind, e.g. images created by another imaging
application in PDF format.
In summary, the HSSM allows you to:
- Handle high volumes of scanning with minimal operator
intervention.
- Scan and store documents to a directory within
RecFind-Corporate using the DocScan utility. Images are saved as a barcode.tif.
Each TIF file may contain a number of pages.
- Scan both color and monochrome documents.
- Merge and split scanned images.
- Scan, capture, OCR and PDF documents using the DocScan
utility.
- Automatically append the image and text file with the
HSSM RecScan module to either:
- an existing corresponding RecFind-Corporate document metadata profile. Documents will be
attached to a document profile matching the barcode number on the first page of
the document (it can also be matched to either a document registration number or
document barcode number); or
- if no existing corresponding RecFind Document metadata profile exists RecScan
will create a new document profile and populate basic metadata fields.
- Scan existing
directories of files (previously captured by some other system) and
automatically capture, index and store various file types including
TIFF, JPEG, PDF etc.
- Assign different security levels for attachments and
newly created document profiles. You may also select the Inherit Doc Profile
option, which means that all attachments generated will have the same security
code of the document profile that it is attached to.
